Donuts, Deliver UBP Karawang Students to Win KBMI

Kamal Lullael, a student at Buana Perjuangan University (UBP) Karawang, was crowned the champion at the Indonesian Student Business Competition (KBMI) organized by the Directorate of Learning, Student Affairs, Higher Education, Ministry of and Culture.

Kamal managed to amaze the judges for his innovation in making donuts. He named his donuts as Special Healthy Donuts (Dose) because they are made from wheat flour with natural coloring and sweeteners taken from red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyhizus).

Dragon fruit was chosen as a natural dye and sweetener because dragon fruit has various benefits such as preventing colon cancer, containing low cholesterol levels in the blood and at the same time lowering fat levels in the body. Dragon fruit also contains iron to increase blood as well as other benefits. “It turns out that my donuts won this competition and I thank all those who have supported me so far,” he said.

Kamal said that in innovating to make donuts, he always received guidance from his supervisor, Farhamzah, at the UBP campus, who always gave full support so that he continued to innovate in making donuts until he finally won the competition. “I thank the UBP campus for their continued support,” he said, Sunday (11/15/20).

Meanwhile, Farhamzah, who is the supervising lecturer, said that the Faculty of Pharmacy (FF) Universitas Buana Perjuangan Karawang (UBP Karawang) always encourages its students to work and become pharmapreneurs in the future. Considering the vision of the UBP Karawang pharmacy study program, it wants to graduate pharmacy graduates who are competitive at the national level in the field of technology, providing natural ingredients and pharmapreneurship.

“We always support student activities such as KBMI, and now Dose can open a shop independently in Kerajan Village, Telukambulu Village, Batujaya District,” he concluded.
