Students of Buana Perjuangan University Karawang Distribute Basic Food for the Homeless

The Management Student Association (HMM) Universitas Buana Perjuangan (UBP) Karawang distributes basic food packages to the homeless. The assistance was given from the results of student fundraising as a form of concern for the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is a social action that we do spontaneously. We raise funds in a day and we immediately buy food packages for the homeless. We focus on the homeless because they don’t get public attention. Even though they are also affected by COVID-19,” said the Chief Executive of the activity. Community Service (Abdimas), Fawwaz Rizqullah, Saturday (23/5/2020).

According to Fawaz, HMM students carried out this “Together For Others” social activity because they felt they could not remain silent seeing so many homeless people on the streets affected by COVID-19. These homeless people are on the side of the road waiting for help from the road users. “Now almost every main street in Karawang is filled with homeless people. Of course this is because they are affected by Covid-19. ” he said.

Fawwaz said students not only gave food packages, they also gave masks to the homeless. Students also provide education about the importance of wearing masks. “We educate them about the importance of masks and also how COVID-19 can transmit,” he said.

Chairman of the HMM UBP Karawang, Ahmad Suwandi said this activity is a collaboration with young members of the association and HMM family ties. “We thank the donors who helped with this activity.” he said.
